I am going to share a story I’ve never shared before to help @humanesociety spread an important message.

I found Mochi on an ad online. I was looking for a black pug and the ad looked like it was a private person who had pugs. When we went there it was a farm with many puppies for different breeds. The people were nice, it looked like they took great care of the puppies, the puppies were clean, looked happy and healthy and the farm look like a family farm. We happily left with baby Mochi. He was healthy and everything was alright.

One day some one asked me where I got Mochi. I looked online because I didn’t remember the address. To my surprise I realized that that “farm” was a horrible place. There were many people that sued them because their puppies were sick or died! That is the first time I learned about puppy mills. My heart broke thinking of what Mochi’s mom must have been through. Mochi was very lucky to be healthy but many others weren’t so lucky.

I look online now and I see so many ads like the one I saw that day. I can’t believe I was so stupid to fall for that! I am sharing this story to advice to #adoptdontshop! There are many dogs looking to be rescued, waiting for their forever home. You can also rescue a pure breed dog if that is what you are looking after. And if you are certain you want to shop for a puppy, please go to a reputable breeder, where you can see the parents, ask for references, look online, please do research! You can’t imagine what dogs go through so people can buy a puppy. Please never buy one in a store or online, a dog is not an object.

Voy a compartir una historia que no he contado nunca pero lo hago para ayudar a @humanesociety a difundir un mensaje importante.

Encontré a Mochi en un anuncio en internet. Parecía que era un particular que había tenido una camada de perros. Cuando llegué, vi que era una granja con muchos cachorros de varias razas. La gente fue agradable, parecía una granja familiar, que trataban a los perros bien, los perros estaban limpios y parecían sanos y contentos. Nos fuimos de allí felices con Mochito. Él estaba sano y todo fue bien.

Al cabo de el tiempo alguien me preguntó de donde saqué a Mochi y lo tube que buscar online porque no me acordaba de la dirección. Para mi sorpresa vi que la “granja” que me había parecido tan fantástica era en realidad un lugar horrible. Tenía muchas denuncias de gente a la que se le había enfermado el perro o incluso muerto! Es la primera vez que aprendí que son las fabricas de cachorros. Se me rompió el corazón de pensar lo que le deben haber hecho a la madre de Mochi. Mochi tubo mucha suerte pero muchos otros no fueron tan afortunados.

Ahora miro por internet y veo tantos anuncios como el que vi ese día y no me puedo creer lo tonta que fui! Comparto esta historia para animar a adoptar y no comprar. Hay muchos perros en adopción esperando a su nueva familia. Incluso hay perros de pura raza en adopción si eso es lo que buscas. Y si estás decidido que quieres un cachorro por favor ves a un criador bueno, que puedas ver a los padres, pide referencias, infórmate! No te puedes imaginar lo que los perros pasan para que la gente pueda comprar cachorros. No compres nunca un perro en una tienda o online, un perro no es un objeto.
